Resumen

Objective: To determine the effect of an educational strategy promoting participation in the development of critical reading of educational research reports, with students of the Center of Educational Research and Teacher Education (CERTE). Material and methods: We performed an intervention study, on multicenter students (medical specialists) who were registered for the courses: Graduates methodological teaching level 1 and 2 (n = 46 n = 29, respectively) in the six CERTE’s (D.F. Siglo XXI, La Raza, Nuevo León, Sonora, Puebla and Jalisco), in the period: March-August 2007. An instrument was built to evaluate the variable: how to read educational research reports, conceptual validity, content and reliability, it was evaluated by experts in education research. The educational strategy developed in the form of seminars, which were held three times a week in the Diploma in teaching methodological level 1 and twice a week in the Diploma Level 2 in teaching methodology; duration per session, six hours. The measurement instrument was applied at the beginning and end of the courses. Results: In the two Graduates it was observed in the total group, a progress in the three indicators of critical reading, which was expressed with statistically significant differences; in the Diploma level 1 in the global score (final vs. initial measurement) were observed following medium: 36-67 (p .0001), in the Level 2 Diploma in its overall rating was observed: 42-78 (p. 0001). Discussion: In this research, based on the results, we observed some of the theoretical ideas of the participatory approach. Conclusion: An educational strategy promoting participation produces educational progress in the three indicators (interpret, judge and make proposals) for critical reading of educational research reports.
