INTRODUCTION “It is necessary a visionary mindset to anticipate the changes required for the development of Mexico […] when this vision is combined with personality, knowledge, character as well as a sense of opportunity, an operating reality is established.” These lines, written years ago in honor of the founder of the Instituto Nacional de Psiquiatría, Dr. Ramón de la Fuente Muñiz, summarizes the spirit of our institution. Over the last 3 decades, the INPRFM has taken the important responsibility of teaching and training the best professionals in the area of mental health and develop high-quality scientific research, on behalf of the well being of the psychiatric patient, coordinating all these activities with other public and private organizations of similar interests in Mexico and worldwide. Its performance is well recognized nationally and internationally for its high academic standards responding to the necessities of psychiatry and mental health in our country.
