Resumen

Up to 20 % of patients with cirrhosis wil requiere surgery. The perioperative management of patients with liver disease is complex an requieres thorough pre-operative evaluation and optimization, special operative considerations and intensive post-operative care. With the appropriate strategies, elective and emergency surgery can be performed safely on patients with reasonably well preserved liver function.
