Resumen

Introduction: We present a user-friendly and robust system for the analysis of medical images, developed in Larazus, called SYFANMI, which is also available in Spanish as SIPANIME (Sistema para la Visualización de Imágenes Médicas). SYFANMI highlights the medical anomalies in images to support the specialist in decision-making and increase the diagnostic efficiency in bone early metastatic disease, osteoporosis, degenerative bone diseases, structural changes, etc. Objective: We aim for SYFANMI to be considered a computer-aided design (CAD) tool for the detection of bone anomalies (bone metastasis), supporting the expert during the clinical/medical analysis. Materials and methods: Development of SYFANMI as the integration of several functions (pixels switch-off, image transform, intensity profile, false color, histogram, segmentation, etc.) in Lazarus is to determine bone anomalies in radiography, mammography, echography, bone scan in several formats such as jpg, jpeg, bmp, and png. Results: We tested the use feasibility of the software as a support in the visualization of bone anomalies and early metastatic disease in medical images, allowing the specialist to verify the absence, presence, and/or progress of bone diseases. Conclusions: We successfully showed the use of SYFANMI as a low-cost multi-format CAD with the capability of adding new functions according to the place where it is used (medical center, low-resource oncological unit) focusing on the search and follow-up of bone metastasis.
