Nefroctomía asistida manualmente por laparoscopia Since the performance of the first laparoscopic ne-phrectomy by Clayman and associates in 1990, there has been a tremendous interest in laparoscopic urology. Since then, almost every possible abdominal and pelvic urological procedure has been performed laparoscopi-cally. In their first laparoscopic nephrectomy, Clayman and associates removed a 190 g kidney through a 11 mm incision using a new tissue morcellator and organ entra-pment sac they had designed.1 The advantages of using such a minimal incision for performing a major proce-dure are obvious. So why has there been a move by some urological laparoscopists to reintroduce the hand into the operative field and in the process extending the incision required?
