Jaundice is a frequent case for emergency and regular medical consult. Medical doctors should be properly trained for an adequate diagnosis for this kind of patients. This article pretends to illustrate and guide general medical doctors in focusing, rapidly, patients with jaundice, in order to proceed with the required lab tests and imagenology. For an adequate diagnosis, knowledge of the physiology of billirubine is required, besides a complete and adequate patient's medical record and finally a paraclinic support that varies according to the type of patient.
