Pancreatic adenocarcinoma is representing the most common indication (49%) in our experience of 257 patients having undergone pancreatectomy or total pancreatectomy for peri-ampullary malignancies. In this subgroup of patients, vascular invasion is considered as a contra-indication for resection for many surgeons. In contradiction with this attitude, our standard of care included radical venous resection and reconstruction, when indicated in locally aggressive pancreatic cancer.
