The gastro-intestinal tractus is the most active organ in our body. It does not only diget and resorb the nutriments of our food, but is also the most activw organ in respect to the inmune system, hormone production an d neurotransmitter production. Recent clinical and experimental studies imply that dietary factors may be more important in the pathogenesis of irritable bowel syndrome that was earlier anticipated. Especially low grade chronic inflammation indiced by food can alter the functions mentioned above and lead to IBS and non intestinal disorders.
