“The National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition Salvador Zubirán (INNSZ) is one of the National Health Institutes of greatest healthcare stewardship and scientific prestige in Mexico”. Dr. Fernando Gabilondo Navarro, current director of the Institute, thus described his foundation in commemoration of the Institute.s 60th anniversary. “October 12th 1946 was a crucial day in the history of Mexican medicine since early that morning, the doors of the Hospital for Nutritional Diseases opened and welcomed a great number of patients to an avant-garde institution, conceived by a visionary genius of modern medical science, Dr. Salvador Zubirán Anchondo.
