INTRODUCTION Public health consists of a series of actions that are put into practice to meet the health needs of a particular population and to ensure living conditions that favor the full and healthy development of all members of the population. As such, public health is the responsibility of two substantive actors: the state and civil society. By forming an alliance, they generate a social movement that maximizes and applies the benefits of current knowledge (through various interventions and public policies) to not only improve the quality of life but also increase the life expectancy of the population as a whole. For this reason, the National Institute of Public Health of Mexico (Instituto Nacional de Salud Pública INSP) holds a strategic position at the national and regional levels, it contributes to generating and innovating public health policies and then incorporates evaluation and generates knowledge to promote health and prevent diseases.
